IBM T43 Help

I have a problem that is driving me bananas,. My IBM R52 laptop has died. Because I needed laptop fast I got IBM T43 from eBay. I work fine but I cannot set up Remote desktop on it. I can access desktop computer from the laptop and LAN works fine but when I try to access laptop from the desktop I get immediately message “The connection was lost due to a network error.”

What O/S are you running?
What O/S is the desktop running?
What type of wireless connection does the T43 have?
(if memory serves, its a Centrino platform with a Pentium M, and "g" wireless?

thanks

Both computers run XP pro SP3 and are connected by 100Mbps LAN. Wireless LAN is disabled on laptop, but it makes no difference if I enable it. Both computers got 1.5Gig memory

I did try it with R52 but it was very slow compared to Microsoft Remote Desktop. Funny thing is that it work really good on old laptop. All I have to change for the connection to this one was Computer name and IP number. But you may be right about SP3 the old computer was running SP2.
But what can I do about it? Reinstall Windows with SP2?
