The Fernleigh Track Tunnel. I can highly recommend a visit and take a tripod. It is amazing! once on the other side follow the track into the bush.
This is a combination od 5 images with 1EV seperation on each. Processed in Photomatix and then finished in CS3. I desaturated the image to give it a more ominous feel and shot from a low angle like a childs to give it impact.
The second image is also the interior of the tunnel but this time a single processed raw image without HDR. I again desaturated the image and shot from a childs perspective.

Wow, I think they are awesome!! They look eerie enough and to have possibly come from a game or a movie. Appeals to me, I play a lot of PS3 when it's cloudy, like Bio Shock and Chronicles of Riddick just to mention a few.

Andrew,

Those have come up quite nicely, like something out of a video game.

I have a shot that I've taken (posted on here a while ago) which this reminds me of, like something out of Quake. I'm a bit over doing HDR nowadays, tending to prefer manual blends.

Mitchell, to get this look, you obtain multiple exposures (between 3 and 5, sometimes more) of the same scene at varying exposure lengths (usually something like -2EV, -1EV, 0EV, +1EV, +2EV) and using software (Photomatix or Photoshop's Merge to HDR functionality) you combine the images and then salt and pepper to taste.

I have to agree with all the others; that's a very spooky pair of photos. The spooky bit for me is that the Fernleigh Tunnel is very nearly in my backyard. It's very weird logging onto an international astronomy site and coming face to face with your local neighbourhood.

So Mike you would know what is lurking in the tunnel when it gets dark. I bet is makes a SLOBBERING noise and SQUELCHES.
The HDR process was pushed a little for the first image. I think that it is more the desaturation that gives it a spooky feel. I wanted a set of spooky images when I went there and was very happy with the result.

Hey Andrew, Have you thought about taking a pic of the exit of the tunnel from inside. If you get the right light coming in the entrance that'd give you a whole heap of "tunnel processing" tricks to play with. I can even get you a couple of test shots if you like.

I am thinking of visiting the tunnel this weekend as it is full moon and will give a very different feel to the image.

Very nice pics.
I remember going in very long tunnels in the UK driving a canal boat. You can't see the other end and it constanly rains in the tunnel. Standing at the back of a canal boat in a dark tunnel, steering with an umbrella up with just a headlight was a very odd experience
