sorry Allan it is woefully processed - we'll see what a second or tenth processing attempt will produce

i take it you are shooting in RAW mode ?

once again hard to pinpoint the actual best approach or where you should have gone. it has a banding effect ( if you look at the histogram does it have a combing effect? ) if you work in a 16 bit image start to finish its a good practice to keep

cheers clive

yo h0ughy, i really like your pic, i do, i ahve tried to image this area myself and by good it takes massive amounts of exposure to get the SNR down, but i gotta ask

if you didnt like it, then why did you post it?

not trying to stir, just curious behind your reasoning, thats all

thanks for sharing anyway

David,

I know just how hard it is to image this area, but, it's worth the pain.

Looks like the 135mm is just perfect for this region.

Well done!

Regards,
Humayun

Nice image Sir h0ugh, I saw this image in the rough and from memory, the detail was a lot smoother than the uploaded image shows, still a very nice result though.

Very nice David. A hard area to process but you have done a reasonable job on this. Not too shabby at all. Come on repo 2 -->
Mike can show you how. LOL

Nice one Dave. It is frustrating to work this area. It has so many contrasting objects that need different processing. Remember the old adage "Less is More"
