Fireball

Did anyone else see the spectacular fireball at about 9:10pm on Saturday (15 Aug 09). We were returning from observing at Kulnura (NSW Central Coast) when it shot across the sky. It was big! Never seen anything like it before.

I took last night off from observing. I always miss the cool stuff! (except McNaught...)

No Phil I did not, but if you witnessed a nice big one, than lucky you, they don't come around that often.

How close to 9:10pm do you think it was. I have a widefield photo from 9:18pm that shows a bright object passing through a 25sec frame.

I was imaging 8:45pm through to 9:12 and then from 9:15 onwards at 30sec intervals

Trevor, it may well have been 5 minutes or more after the time I stated. The clock is broken in my car and I was driving so I couldn't check, plus I didn't think to ask the passengers the time...lol. I was driving generally in a south-easterly direction at the time and I think the thing was moving in a roughly east to west direction.
By the way, that's a great pic you took.
