Bintel Service - GREAT

Hi

I have had a 150mm short tube Skywatcher refractor laying unused
for many years as I could not bother humping and assembling the HEQ5pro
mount out into the yard for those quick views on cold winter nights
(alright - I am a wooze). The 80mm scopes on camera tripods were not
suitable for what I wanted.

Nowhere could I find advice on a suitable alt-az mount on the net,
BUT a quick call to Bintel (Sydney) yesterday afternoon had Don
advising that the Skyview II would be suitable, and it arrived early
this morning.

The mount is brilliant for what I want to hold the 8kg scope, easy
to take out to the yard next to the lake, stable with little wobble
when using the controls. I am looking forward to trying it out on
DSO's tonight before the moon rises. At the moment I am checking
out all the recently hatched Plover chicks running around the lake
foreshore.

Many thanks Bintel(Don) for the advice, great product and excellent service.

regards Alex

It is good that you are enjoying your telescope again Alex.

I have had dealings with Bintel many times over the past few years and always found them to be professional and helpful. Usually I am dealing over the phone though I did go into their old premises in Sydney about 10 years ago. I made the mistake of going in there with cash in my pocket, there wasn't much cash left when I came out! I bought a pair of binoculars they recommended and I still own and use them now.

It's good to hear positive reports of vendors.

Bintel are brilliant. My dealings with them the last few times is when I lose the CD with the drivers for the LPI. Each time a new disc has appeared in a day or two at no charge. Cannot fault that service!

Great story Alex. I have to echo all of the above. BinTel's customer service and backup support are second-to-none in this country.

Only can agree with you about Bintel. Whenever in Melbourne I drop in for a chat and to see what is new. Nothing is ever a bother with the guys in Melb. Always eager to help and please.

Good to see a thread like this instead of the usual retailer bashing threads. Hooray.
