Yes if it is more efficent at killing it must be a good thing and think of the new jobs to get it produced sold etc.
Does the world need more weapons of course it does.
Theoretical Physics would not be where it is today if there was no military interest or the space program so its time to give them something back and what could be better than a new toy...
