Umm... Repro as promised..

M20 reprocesseed on my desktop with properly calibrated monitor as opposed to the previous one from the laptop... Much much nicer I think...

Your thoughts?

And larger version Here!

Thanks for looking!

Don't you just love dew, good to see M45 again.

That second M20 looks much better with rich colours in the starfield, nice one Alex.

Very nice work Alex. Great to see that you have been getting some clear skies recently.

The reprocessed M20 is much better. Less saturated. Still a very nice image. M45 still turned out nicely.

What type of field flattener have you decided to get?

Still haven't decided on a flattener Matty, I'm considering the WO 0.8x reducer/flattener v3 or the Televue RDF2008 0.8x flattener... One of the two...

the m20 is the pick of the bunch, i always find these objects in a crowded starfield difficult, you have some nice star colors showing through to give it character

must have been up early for m45, it hasnt hit the meridian before its light.

Nice work Alex.
Once those clouds cleared it was glorious watching the Summer constellations rising. Not knowing which object to turn the camera to.

JJJ... It was hard to decide what to shoot.... M45 was a good choice though I think.. seeing as I've never imaged it too..

Fred : The field is definitely not as tight as you would like (or me for that matter!!) The first M20 was atrocious, Im actually embarrassed now that I posted it.. However I do think I came back!

Washed out you say? Any tips on how to fix it up?

Thanks Les.. Yea the M45 shot is growing on me actually... I still think I can do a better job of processing it... if we get some clouds during the week I'll have another go at it!

Alex.

Really like your M45 image Alex, it has come up very nice.

As for the M20 I am surprised you posted it after seeing your better work.

Poor Alex.
No-one likes his psychodelic rendition of m20.
I blame the processing on too many rumbos eh mate.

yep between a bottle of rum, no sleep and my extremely dim laptop screen, the first m20 was horrible. I should have checked it on my desktop first.. I think the second is much much better. Maybe even one of my best shots to date.. Hard to say.. But i like it!

M45 is outstanding, the nebulosity is very faint and you have captured it well.

Thanks Mate... I have had a few goes at M45 before using shorter, unguided exposures, and never managed to get the nebulosity... This time around I managed to get quite a bit of it, although before the season is over I can guarantee I'll revisit this one with 10~15min exposures..

Alex.

I think we were all a bit past our best by this hour of the morning Alex, but glad we stayed up. The fog was getting pretty treacherous towards the end, so I wouldn't go too hard on yourself re dew.

Well done on both of these! M45 is my pick too.

Nice work Alex considering the conditions and the rum.

The field of view with the 90 is great. Sober up and take some more without the fog.
