M8 quickie

Here's a quick test shot from last night after spending some time refining my polar alignment. 25x2mins (R channel) using the DSI II pro and 10" Newt. This is the image stacked on the fly in Envisage with a quick levels adjustment to the black point and a slight deconvolution.

I'm quite pleased with the detail in the image and look forward to getting some more time to capture the other channels.

Thanks for the encouragement Marc and Carl. Looks like we are going to have some good conditions here this week so a good opportunity to get some more data. I'm also contemplating doing a mosaic of this area - perhaps a project for astrofest.

Hi Peter,

You should be really happy with this - another excellent shot. The detail is amazing. Seems most people here like colour but theres a lot to be said for a good detailed B&W shot.

Well done. Hope the weather here in Canberra is good too on the weekend - I'm keen to have another run.

Cheers
David

Thanks David, JJJ, Barb and David. I'm a big fan of B&W images and it's a lot less work than doing the RGB so quite a good option for a school night.

Nice image... Plenty of detail in the nebula, now all you need is the colour.

Well Done.
