Gallileoscope Woes!

Hi All,

My Gallileoscope arrived on Friday. Unfortunately the tripod screw bolt, the Rubber O-rings and the Safety Sticker where missing from the various components.

I thought I'd ask on the very unlikely off chance if someone else's package might have doubled up on these items. If so please let me know and I'd apprreciate being able to to put the unit the unit together so I can use it.

Emails to the Gallieoscope people recieve an immediate response that due to their system being overwhelmed it is very unlikely that they will recieve a response. The telephone call also timed out ($1.70 it cost) with a message to say that again their system was overloaded and It was unable to record a voice message. I'm not feeling confident about getting redress but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Michael, I have a second scope box to open this week. Let's see if you are lucky. Cross fingers.

To get you operational, the nut should be pretty standard from Bunnings? And Clark Rubber sell a selection of O-rings. You only really need the focusser tube o-rings. The big ones that go over the main body are not essential - the body is held together quite well by the dew shield and the cap that fits over the focusser tube.

I'm emailing Clark Rubber. I've already had one unsuccessfull attempt at locating a suitable nut. Will try again tomorrow.

i agree the 1/4" inch nut should be easy enough to get from a good hardware store. For big o-rings i usually try a place called blackwoods or a bearing stockist - they usually have big ones

Found some rubber suppliers locally so I'll try them b4 going interstate.

Thanks Phil, Daniel and Eric for you useful hints and advice.

Went down to Nuts and Bolts this morning and got the o rings and a bolt.

I had to slightly file two sides opposite each other to get it the fit in the space provided so the unit would fit properly around it.

Best scope to have a look through is a "Gallianoscope"...after having fun before observing, you're seeing stars after you fall over looking through the "scope"!!!
