Jupiter 24th with wis

I finally got out side imaging after 4 months of waiting. Seeing was best around 1am after 1 seeing went from good to not so good, it's a shame my picture was taken at 2-20am. I had my usual imaging gear 235mm sct, Skynyx 2-0 camera, CG-5 mount and Astronomiks Type 2 RGB filters. Quite happy I caught Jupiter’s new feature Wesley's impact site.

Advice welcomed!

Re jupiter

Thats fantastic,well done!

This the first pic i have seen, where a name is given to the new feature,

previously the only name i have seen is "bird strike" or something to that

effect, what is the science behind this Wesley impact,is that the name of

the comet or astriod that hit Jupiter,or is it the name of the first person

that observed it????,

I have ben rather busy at work, and had a few other issues to deal with lately, and simply havent had a good chance to seek out these facts.

Its amazing!glad earth isnt as big as Jupiter.

Cheers Chris

Thanks guys
Hotspur the name behind Wesley's impact site (WIS) is the name of the first person to see this event Anthony Wesley. No science involved here!
