Another NGC 253

Finally got a bit more usable data on this target.
26 minutes of 20 subs.
Canon 20d
Taken as jpegs (DSS is having issues with my raw files)
8" newt
Mini Tower
DSS
CS3 to crop, minimal adjustments to keep the noise down.
I'll probably repro later when I'm not so tired.

That's coming along JJJ, shame about the 8bit jpegs.
It's so annoying when things are working fine and then just stop for no apparent reason.
Hope you find a solution soon.

Hi Jeanette,

Have you tried taking in RAW then converting to TIFF format with Photoshop CS3 instead of using JPG with DSS? From what I understand that way you won't be losing as much detail. Looks good considering though. Keep them coming!

Also what ISO setting did you use on the 20D?

That's a nice one JJJ, maybe a little light on in Data but a hell of a nice shot, well done indeed.

It's coming along nicely JJJ. It reminds me of the one I did at Astrofest last year.

It's only ever happened to images I've taken of ngc253. DSS works fine in .raw for everything else. I thought I had it sussed the other night and lost another nights work. Capturing in .jpg was a last resort cause I just had to nail this galaxy. It has to be something simple causing the conflict.

To capture as much data as possible, I use ISO 3200 for half the subs and ISO 800 for the other half. Then layer the resulting images in photoshop, flatten then adjust curves etc.
Though sometimes I just dump the whole lot in DSS and stack them together.
It all depends on how much time I want to spend on it.
