Quick NGC 253

First light for the new scope.
It's only 9 minutes of data which explains the noise.
Canon 20d, 8" newt, Mini Tower.
It's a work in progress.

its a very good image mate, despite the length of exposure in the shot, the focus is very very sharp, and composed very well. I was imaging this to the other night, although it still rises kinda late

like i said, cant wait to see what you can do with the new stuff when you get going ...

Hi Jeanette

That is a lovely image of NGC253, you should be very proud of it.

Nice one Jeanette

I'm impressed with the MiniTower's ability to carry a newtonian of that size along with a reasoanbly heavy DSLR to boot. Are you able to wedge it at all?

Well done

Very nice Jeanette, only 9 min of data. Quite a lot of detail captured for this short a time. Will come up very well with a bit more added.

Well done.

Hi Jeanette:
Very good depth, the galaxy is seen very well. The stars, to seem, also were very well.
Many greetings from Mexico.

Chris, the MT handled the weight very well indeed.
Goto was spot on, putting each object well within the field of view with no noticeable drift.
I'd love to wedge it up, but that costs mucho $$$.
Maybe Uncle Kev will help out once I put my tax in.
John Bozeman, in the US, is having fair to middling success autoguiding in eq mode as well. Lot's of potential in this little mount, it's packed with unrealised features.

Great job Jeanette. Your new scope and the little MT sure delivered the goods. Terrific first light

You know, I knew that something would go wrong.
You don't buy a new scope then have clear skies so you can use it.

Thanks everyone.
I took many more subs last night. But now DSS doesn't want to stack them.
Haven't changed any of the settings. I've tried putting them through 2 different versions of the program. Tried changing all the .raw over to .tif. Make no difference. It will only stack the one image.
In desperation I'm trying to put it through Registax.
Might have to download IRIS again.

Don't panic if you can't re-stack JJJ - more excuse to get out under the night sky again!

Already looking very nice.
