M57

Another quickie
11 minutes approx. exposure time, using the usual ultra short subs.
After imaging all this time with refractors, I'm loving these diffraction spikes.
It's been a great time tonight, cruising the celestial smörgåsbord, tasting a little bit of this and that.

Well done Jeanette! I guess the EQ5 is the reason for the ultra short subs. How long is ultra short in practice? How long can you get out of the EQ5? Which flaw of the EQ5 is its primary limitation? I've been fighting to get more than 30secs (due to a slow RA drive) out of mine and have conceded that may be its time to lash the cash.

Mike.

I think it's perfect framing...if you're including the star with diffraction spikes.
You must be enjoying those spikes Jeanette if they get equal standing with M27.

And I'm glad to see you're having fun.

Mike, I was using the iOptron Mini Tower this time. It's alt azi, so I must do short subs.

You are doing very well Jeanette, that's a very nice image.

Two all nighters in a row okay, only ever tried three once. - not good.

Mick, if you saw the full res version of this image you'd cringe at the amount of noise.
It need about 2 hrs more data to smooth it out.

Looks very good Jeanette, You can see you like the spikes moving the image over to fit the spiked star in.
I like them myself but get abused when I use fishing line on the refractor to achieve spikes.
Very nice work but I would keep expanding the exposures out instead of shortening them. Calibration will take care of artifacts and SN ratio will only improve.

Well done.
