The Man from Earth

With all the cloud over the last week or so I have had time to catch up on a few sci fi movies including Star Trek - not bad. Terminator Salavation - yeah good with some great special effects and then Jerome Bixby's The Man from Earth, ??? never heard of it - lent to me by a friend who just said watch it and see what you think - well WOW!
Star Trek and Terminator cost a squillion dollars to make. The Man from Earth is very low budget, no explosions, no aliens, no special effects.
I don't know how many have seen this and it may not be for everyone given the challenging story (and lets not give it away) but I will say for nearly 90 minutes it drew me in like no movie has for a long time, edge of the seat stuff. Superb acting and very interesting storyline if you listen well. It builds beautifully and ends superbly, a movie I will watch again and again.
PeterM.

Hi Marcel,
The one I have was an import. It is well worth huntingdown.
Seems we miss a lot of good movies and docs in oz. There maybe some import stores around but that could make it rather expensive.

I was lucky enough to watch this some time ago now and found it very thought provoking. Its hard not to say anything without spoiling it for others. One thing I will say, I'm not sure it fits the sci-fi genre, perhaps more fantasy than anything else. But Peter is right, you can still have a very powerful movie without having to spend much on sets, effects and everything else. Recommended!!

I just watched it here:

http://www.free-tv-video-online.info...rom_earth.html

After 72 minutes you will have to reset your modem so you get new IP address so you can continue watching it or you will have to wait 54 minutes

cheers

bob

Oh, BTW Great movie!

And if you loved this movie than "Thirteenth Floor" will blow you away serious
