12" Truss Dob project for sale - Price Drop

I am selling of my incomplete 12-inch truss Dobsonian project. I am selling so I can upgrade to an ultra-compact scope for a series of upcoming holidays.

This is a great opportunity for any ATM to build their own unique truss Dob, small enough to back in the boot of a car and no ladder required (except for kids or very vertically-challenged people, I guess).

This project is suited for a 12-inch f5 scope. This collection includes the following:
  • 12-inch, 6-point primary mirror cell made to a similar design and specification as discussed in Kriege's book.
* Completed and ready to install.

* This cell has outside dimensions of 275 x 355mm.

* Powdercoated black finish.

* Electrically wired with 12 volt cooling fan, switch, LED indicator, and socket.

* Comes with stainless steel fittings and sling support supplied by Peter Read from SDM Telescopes.

  • Secondary cage featuring:
* 2 x 9-ply 19mm rings made from A-A grade hoop pine, with a clear laquer finish, assembled with the 4 struts.

* 4 Struts made from 1-inch aluminium with Kriege's captive or "umbrella" fasteners.

* GSO 2" Crayford Focuser mounted on focuser board.

* Bolts and washers holding the struts to the rings are polished solid brass! They look spiffy!

*A sheet of Kydex material supplied ready to install inside the secondary cage.

  • 4 x 3-metre lengths of 1-inch aluminium extruded (rolled) tube for the trusses - plenty enough for 8 trusses for an f5 scope.
  • 1 sheet of A-A grade, 9-ply, 19mm hoop pine to get most of the primary mirror box and rocker box constructed (no guarantees you will have enough, that will be based on your actual design). Dimensions of this sheet is 1200 x 2000 mm.
  • Various offcuts of A-A grade, 9-ply, 19mm hoop pine for smaller parts.
  • Note: no optics included but this project is ideally suited for a GSO/BinTel BK-7 mirror.
If you are looking to make a start of a 12" truss Dob, this package should get you past the fiddly part of making the secondary cage and a good way into the project.

This entire package I am asking $400 the lot.

Pick up is your only option from Sunbury, Victoria, or if you are in Victoria somewhere I will negotiate delivery. Obviously I cannot post all of this including the truss poles and plywood sheet, unless you are prepared to pay for shipping costs.

I prefer not to break this up at this point as it will suit anyone considering starting a small Dob project.
