Milky Way and Rho Ophiuchus

Finally got a bit of clear sky tonight. It is plagued of course, by that whopping great beacon in the sky, the moon, but never mind I thought I would make the most of it anyway.

Tonight I thought I would remove the telescope from the mount and just pop the Canon 400D on by itself so I could track the stars for a few minutes inside the dome.

First one Milky Way Galaxy widefield 18mm F3.5 ISO 800 3 minutes

Second one Antares Rho Ophiuchus region 55mm F5.6 ISO 800 6 x 3 minutes stacked - total 18 minutes

This is the first time I have attempted to photograph a dark nebula. (Rho O)

The big fella upstairs has made some pretty awesome things up there I reckon. I'd love to go there one day and see it all for myself!

Hope you like em!

Baz.

Yes...but it was a short visit. Bad timing on my part I suspect. When I arrived at the gates, they were closed with a sign stating "Sorry, Back in 10 minutes". Must have been a toilet break or something.

Nice wide field work Baz. Can never get tired of wide fields.
