Gulls and Poles

Within minutes of arriving at Te Anau I headed out with my camera to see what I could capture.

The entire region is incredibly photogenic. Great images seem to just leap out at you and dare you to capture them as best you can.

I walked down to the waterside a little way from our cabin and spotted this tranquil scene, only an hour or so before sunset.

This was taken with the 40D and 17-40mm f/4L USM.

The colour image looks fine, but I thought the black and white conversion just brought a little more drama to the shot.

I'm still getting a feel for B&W photography..
