Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2009

Just wondering who else here entered this competiton and has been shortlisted for the finals..?

http://www.nmm.ac.uk/visit/exhibitio...r-of-the-year/

There are some beautiful images entered I know Steve Crouch entered a few images..?
A couple of Phil Hart's (and others) awarded Malin shots would be right at home in that lot for sure!

Some good sized cash prizes are on offer plus profit share royalties from sales for winning images too, so my fingers are crossed

Mike

Know what you mean Clive but in this case it is being run by the Royal Observatory in London plus it's an international contest too. There will be a hard copy exhibition of the finalist images too so it's quite similar to the David Malin Awards really but just on an international scale ie your images can be seen by the whole world plus there is a museum style exhibition in the home of modern astronomy, sounded pretty cool to me .

Entries closed 19/7 for 2009 but over 1000 entries will make it hard work for the judges maybe next year

At least there is a panel of judges. Seems like a very credible competition. Notable DSO and planetary imagers. Might try for that one next year.

Happily I was told my image has been selected top 5 in the "Earth & Space" category. Anxiously waiting for final placing which will be announced tomorrow here :
