Will the HEQ5 Pro runs on Alkaline battery?

G'day,

Has anyone tried running the HEQ5 Pro mount using the rechargable alkaline batteries?

I couldn't get definitive answer from my airlines if I can bring along the 12V power station via the flight cargo to China next month, for the Total Solar Eclipse. I don't want to get caught off guard at the airport by having to throw away the battery!

I heard that by just setting the mount to Sidereal tracking, it won't be using much power.. so will the Alkaline battery be enough? Just needed for the duration of the eclipse.

Advice?

would possibly work - but not for long - wonder if you could pick up a battery over there when you get there

I already had my local travel agent to arrange with the travel agent over there to get one and pass over at the airport... if they can get one! . Though I would feel much much relax if I got some alternative solution beforehand.
