Eq5 or similar

Hi,
I am in need of an EQ5, CG5, Vixen GPE, LXD75 or similar mount - with dual axis drives.
Needs to safely hold my 8" reflector (weight of OTA =11Kg/24Lb)
Can spend only up to $400

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Andrew M

Hi, I have an EQ5 in excelent condition but has no drive setup, but does have the vixen wooden tripod which was used with the Super polaris mount.

Peter

just noticed, you need it to hold 11 kg? if thats the case none of those mounts you listed will do

yep - I took my 8" GSO dob (OTA+Barlow) and put it on some bathroom scales... ELEVEN Kg (24lb).

The Payload weights I found for various mounts are as follows..
LXD75 = 30lb
CG5 = 30lb
EQ5=20lb
Orion Skyview pro=20lb

I know I am pushing it, but I wont be doing any photography, just observing with the old eyeballs. This OTAs weight fall between all those mounts capacities...

I gather there must be some margin for error in the weight the mounts will hold, and I expect a lot of that has to do with the stability of the tripod...
Do you think I am being too unrealistic???
-Its just that I cant afford much else and I really want to make this scope "equatorial", instead of having to bump it around all of the time...

How much would you sell your mount for - Or would I simply be disappointed with the purchase...
