First Impressions of Queenstown

Hi all.

Arrived in Queenstown a little earlier this afternoon.

It's a very pretty part of an exceptionally beautiful country.

I thought I'd just post a few quick shots. They're not particularly good...just some images captured 'on the run'.

We're here for another two days....with plenty planned. There's some great rivers and tracks to explore and we're planning on doing some jetboating, kayaking, 4WD-ing and perhaps a little helicopter ride into surrounding areas.

Matt,

All lovely photographs.

It makes me want to go back.

I'm going to try and go back in spring. Might even see if I can find a job over there and move.

Regards,
Humayun

Thanks, H.

I know exactly what you mean. My partner and I have both commented along the same lines as we've travelled around NZ.

I think Q'Town would be very exciting during the peaks of winter and summer. Exciting....and nuts!!!!

What time were you in Q'Town??? Did you take part in many activites? Anything you'd recommend?

Cheers.

Matt,

I was in Queenstown the first week of May. I have been there in the middle of winter before for skiing and it is chockers full of people. It is quite exciting. Make sure you go to Fergburger. *drool*

I didn't get to do any activities apart from walking and photographing. I lost a few days due to rain on my trip from the east to the west coast. I wanted to jump out of a plane, and go on a jetboat, but, I was just pressed for time.

I did do a scenic flight around Mount Cook from Lake Tekapo. It was splendid.

Regards,
Humayun

Matt,

Very beautiful photos!

I was in Queenstown in early June, 1990, and remember it was extremely cold with lots of black ice on the roads (even in the afternoon) so take care driving. The other thing I remember from that trip was a bright aurora - so keep your eye open on the skies as well.
