The New Star Trek Movie.

I'm off to watch the New Star Trek Movie Today with the wife & kids. Speaking of KIDS...wow they are really taking over these days...LOL...just kidding. Go easy on me...I'm becomming an old bean as Chris calls me

I'll try to keep an open mind...I'm a hard core Treky...& whilst I have an amazing home thearter, this is one movie where the story line means more to me than special effects.

Maybe this "Reboot" New Look" "Revamp" or whatever they call it will inspire more people into Sci-Fi or even Star Trek itself.

I'll try to behave

I'm going to try and see it with Jacob this weekend.

I like Star Trek but i'm not enough of a fanatic to get all upset over casting or "true to the original" or anything like that.

For me, it will be entertainment.

Morning, old bean!

Enjoy. I'm off to see it this evening with Asterisk (Geoff) and Debbie - another member of MAS. Gold Pass seats are booked, and I'm raring to go. It'll certainly be interesting to see how Kirk, Spock, Sulu, et al landed the gig, so to speak. Can't wait....

Looking forward to seeing this one. I've enjoyed all the Trek movies thus far especially with the cast from Next Generation...

I hope I don't spoil this movie for myself, like I did with "Star Ship Troopers". Too busy picking the story line to bits when I should be just sitting back watching and enjoying the movie for what it is, not what it should be.

Still trying to convince the wife to go... none of my friends are interested! Maybe if I promise to go see a chick flick, she might agree...

its really quite good, a bit disconnected in places, and sometimes its all about the eye candy, and the story can sometimes suffer for it, and Simon Pegg does a reasonable job of a Scottish accent

Evening Chris ...Glad I kept an open mind! I think you'll get 100% Entertainment Mike. They really put a lot of thought into it. I loved how Bones was pretty much...well plain old doc from the the original as pretty much the rest of the main crew. I liked everything and thought it was rather well presented over all. Using the time line to set a new stage is probably the best way they could of done it.

Very well done & pleasantly surprised as a Treky.......Most certainly Blu-Ray material...Awesome "LFE" Base Levels!!! I could pretty much say the film pays homage to the original.

I'll probably see it on the weekend. Looking forward to it, I grew up on Star Trek re-runs as a kid. Love TNG, better characters etc, have the limited box set of the DVDs ;-) First contact was the best Star Trek movie imho.

@dpasten

I did the same pretty much, like TNG the most, and think First Contact was the best movie. I liked the approach of Enterprise but after Ch9 started messing with the air times (like they always do) I had to give up watching. I'm afraid I can't stay up till 1am these days.

Well...just back from seeing it at a Gold Pass cinema.

In my 40-something years of being an avid Star Trek fan..... this was arguably the best two hours of Trek viewing pleasure I've had. It is the best-produced movie of all of them IMHO. Simply stunning - it will be hard to top this one as it's set the benchmark. To quote a review on the movie - "It's a transporter ride to sci-fi nirvana". J.J Abrams has outdone himself.

The characters were all brilliant, and were acted true to their later selves. The effects were mind-numbing, the sound was incredible and the story line brought the next 40 years into focus. Going to warp was explosive. The ship interior and crew compliment brought a new dimension to Starfleet.

Wow, wow, wow!

I'll be back..... or was that from something else... ?

I must say....all the reviews I've seen and the comments I've heard have been overwhelmingly positive.

It's just great that they've done a good job with something we all hold dear and think of so fondly Especially given the cock-ups which others have made with other remakes of other subject matter in recent times.

I'm also pleased to see the current cast and director have signed on for several more films....Seems like Star Trek is in good hands for a while.

Heck, I was going to give it a miss. But with that recommendation I'll have to go and see it now!

I agree with Chris. The acting was excellent - look out for Eric Bana - he managed to ooze as much menace as he could with a script that wasn’t necessarily in his favor and a story more focused on Starfleet camaraderie than anything else.

The movie is a swift, modern, and extremely enjoyable revival of a science fiction favourite. The special effects are spectacular and well-complimented by the sound track.

Even non-Star Trek enthusiasts will enjoy the movie!

Don't kill this film by waiting for it on DVD Rob. Go and see it at a cinema with really kick-a sound. You'll not regret it.
