NGC55 Galaxy in Sculptor

Hi Everyone

Thought it was about time I posted a new image. This is an edge on spiral or an irrregular galaxy, depending on who you listen to. I like to think of it as two edge on spirals interacting. NGC55 in Sculptor:

http://users.bigpond.net.au/itchysastro/NGC55web.jpg

30 September 2005, Canon 300D, Meade LXD55 SN10. 124x30sec exposures at ISO1600, prime focus, unguided.
Processing: ImagesPlus: Dark, Flat and Bias calibration, align, adaptive add, DDP. ABE: gradient removal. Photoshop CS: levels, curves. Noiseware: Noise reduction applied per channel.

This one is for Erwin

Comments and criticisms welcome

Cheers

Very nice shot Tony, as Ving said, just like I saw last night!

Beautiful colours and nicely processed.

Lovely Tony! I can't remember ever seeing that one. I'll have to look harder next time.

I imaged NGC 55 with an ETX 70 and a webcam from Kulnura on Saturday. ..it gets a bit neglected I think with NGC 253 around the corner....havent got around to processing it yet but why do I have the sneaking suspicion it isnt going to turn out anything like this very fine image
