Dithering using Nebulosity with Eq6

Hi,

Can anyone help me work out what is required to perform drizzling through an Eq6. I understand there is a need to move the image slightly during drizzling.

Is this achieved through the software controlling the mount and what would be required to do this with an Eq6. Does it need EQMOD or can this just be done via PhD and the autoguider.

I have a Eq6 pro synscan (no Eq mod) and usually autoguide with a QHY5 using PhD. I should hopefully have a DSI III very soon so the dithering might be a nice option to increase the image resolution. Scope is 800mm focal length refractor or a 300mm f2.8 lens.

Appreciate any feedback on nebulosity also.

Thanks
David

I used nebulosity and PHD a while back, and used to dither images...

What you need to do, is drop down the "tools" menu in PHD, and click "Enable Server" then in nebulosity drop down the "view" menu and click PHD Link. A small window will open, and there you can enable dithering between images..

Essentially, Nebulosity sends a command to PHD, and in between exposures, PHD will move the guide star in a random direction a specified amount of pixels.. You dont require EQMOD, but you will need to be running software that supports dithering. Nebulosity and PHD will dither very well, and all up its relatively cheap. MaximDL supports dithering, but is very expensive, also CCDSoft supports it through a plugin... again, expensive..

Alex.

Thanks Alex,

Just the feedback I needed - you're a champ.

Hope we see some more great images with your new RC. They look very promising.

Dithering with an RC - that would really be something!

Kind regards,
David
