Any Amateur Astronomers near Gatton, Qld?

Greetings,
I have seen a few old threads regarding clubs near Gatton or Toowoomba. I have recently started up Astronomy since I retired and would like to benefit from experienced star gazers in the field near my local area or reasonable driving distance from Gatton, Qld. It seems there are no organised clubs of any sort unless I go to Brisbane or Ormeau. I just carried out my first collimation of my Skywatcher 8 inch collapsable dob - hope things get easier! The net and Utube are wonderful for education in these areas but nothing beats practical hands on learning!

Cheers Graham

Hi Graham. I live in the Ipswich area & do 99% of my observing from my yard (... I don't have any street lights :-). I'm sure there are others from the general Ipswich area too. I'm aware that the Scenic Rim Astronomy club was holding the odd observing night somewhere near the Big Orange which is quite close to you. There is/was an astronomy cafe somewhere near there too & they used to advertise viewing nights via Facebook. Alex
