Storm Closing In

Went out onto the back deck to BBQ some chicken a few months ago and saw this coming my way. Originally it was a reasonable distance away ... took me a small time to realize just how fast it was closing in ... So it was drop the chook, grab the camera and start shooting.

I had no time to setup anything just try and rest the side of the camera on a post and hope for the best with the very dark conditions. It was actually about 3.30pm or so, but once covered by this it was black as night.

I was probably handed a very unique situation here and if I was a better photographer would have most likely had a set of photo's very worthy ... but this is my set and I have stretched levels in photoshop as much as I dare to arrive at these ... So I lament their quality but still marvel at the spectacle, and will not forget quickly the storm that came with it.

One of the shots revealed a star or planet that you couldn't see with the naked eye ... this is an apt forum to show it off I think.

Thanks for looking

Jeff

Did you get hail? Looks like classic anvil style cloud structures, slight Green tinge in some of the shots as well. I've seen storms like that before and they're usually nasty from my experience...

Thanks for the comments. They are not lights but rather a star and I think a planet. They are in other photos as well and appear because I had to have the shutter open so long because it was so dark. You couldnt see them with the naked eye ... well let me rephrase that .. I dont remember seeing them at all, however there were many distractions that afternoon.
