M20 Triffid Nebula

Probably my best attempt so far with the modded 40d. Had a look around on the net for a colour comparison, not too many good ones that I could find. Tried not to clip the histogram and tried not to over stretch the data.
Thanks for looking.

That looks a goodin' to me! Looks right colourwise as well. At least how I remember M20.

This is excellent. You just need more data. Tracking and focus are spot on. Good job.

Wonderful shot but could do with a little bit of noise reduction like Noise Ninja.

Greg.

The colours are beautiful!

I agree with Greg regarding noise reduction, and probably reducing the dimensions before saving under 200kb would help reduce the artifacts too.

Nice work!

Thank you for your comments, that's very nice! On the size of the image, I forgot to reduce it, sorry!!
On the noise, I will try Noise Ninja, thank you Greg. I must admit though, I process on an older 21inch CRT(I think that's what you call it)monitor, and the noise never looks as bad or is non-existent as on an LCD screen.
Cool, something new to learn about!

Have to admit I too did have this problem, on the old CRT it looked just fine, then when that died, and went to Monitor Heaven, I bought a new LCD. the difference is just incredible. yep, noise and all that other stuff.

Howdy Greg, Mike, is this presented better? I found Noise Ninja really softened/blurred the image too much, so I played with the settings a bit. Thanks for your input.

Taken with an Eric Lo modded Canon 40d through a Bintel N200 200mm reflector on an EQ6 with EQMOD and EQDIR. Guided with a DSI 1 Colour through an Orion 80ST using PHD. Image is 10x6min and is constructed using MaxIm DL, Deepsky Stacker, Photoshop CS2, Noel Carboni's Action & Noise Ninja.

That is much more better now. For noise reduction I use the astronomy tool for PS. I get good results with it.

Your pic is very good, colors and details...

cheers
