Snow Monkeys

Hold still little fella.

Some people need to get super close, here I captured a tourist trying his luck in the mountains near Nagano, Japan. I was concerned the monkey was going to take a swipe for his camera and give it a wash in that hot spring!

Hah – nice shot Michael! It begs the question – who is watching whom??

It must have been an enthralling place to visit and see these primates in the hot springs.

Cheers

Dennis

Lovely photo.

The monkeys' fingers look almost human.

A brave man, these monkeys often cary a herpes B virus which can be fatal to humans.

In Launceston they were going to put the resident Macaque monkeys down because of the danger, but the public outcry caused a rethink, public donations allowed building of a new $500,000 enclosure and the monkeys live on.
Here's some shots of the little fella's in Launceston.

No that's not me in the image, its a backpacker from the UK. I saw him creeping closer and closer and I was thinking "Mate, what are ya doing?" I believe the monkeys can be fast, and unpredictable. I'll just stick to using a longer zoom

Hi Michael

Thanks - I need to read posts more closely. And you were wise to keep your distance. Cheers Petra d.
