Thanks, mate. The 5D Mark II is a dream to use. I'm quite happy to say that it's the greatest investment I've made. Along with the glass. The prints are just stunning. After all, prints are what it's all about -- there's nothing like hanging your work on a wall and letting others (and myself!) admire the scene.

Unfortunately, in my haste to take the image, the horizon was about 3 degrees off being level. The un-rotated image actually had more of the fence dangling at the edge and it really worked. However, I had to fix the rotation and maintain the desired aspect ratio. This meant preserving the mountains at the far left swathed in the orange afterglow, so, had to chop a lot more of the fence out, which had already been cut due to the crop after rotation. I was going to clone it out, but, I can't bring myself to add or remove subjects and items from a scene. It's what I saw.

I did notice the fringe around the Moon and it does show up in print. I will go back and fix it, for, as you said, it is distracting.

We did a 14 day hike through the southern alps of NZ in 2005. Went hiking from Tekapo to Rex Simpson Hut on one day and up to a peak nearby the next day.. stunning. In fact the whole holiday was filled of stunning photo's. Be great to get back there, such a nice part of the world. |

You're right. As I was taking the images, I did take a step back and just admire the scene. There were more mountains to my right and they were alerady starting to go dark. There's something majestic about snow-covered mountains. They almost seem alive.
