I use them all the time. Of course I have 2 Meade telescopes to go with them, however, I use them in my other scopes as well with great effect. There is better out there and worse also too, but I think they represent good value for money with reasonable apparent fields of view. The complete set in the case is a good bargain!

Just spent Friday night looking through Nagler and Ethos EP's on 12" and 16" dobs. Worth every cent and now thinking may downsize my ambitions a little aperture wise and spend some $ on EPs. From what I could see the top notch EPs beat the Meade stuff hands down but you get what you pay for!

i must admit, and this is where i am gonna get flamed, i have yet to look through an eyepiece that made me go 'wow!", and i have used many eyepieces such as TeleVue, Vixen high end, Pentax etc. sure the more expensive ones had a much wider field of view, and where more crisp to a greater degree of the edge, but by far for me the biggest factor is seeing that affects the image, thats not me saying they are no good, far from, i suppose what i am saying is "i find it alot harder to make out the difference between a reasonably good eyepiece to an excellent eyepiece, although i find it far easier to tell the difference between a reasonably good one and a shocking bad one"

as and for buying, the only thing that i would sacrafice for aperture would be portability, the eyepieces that come with most synta scopes etc, is perfectly adequate to get going on.

and now, to pre-empt the thread, i will supply a template for all further replies.

Ahhh!!! but you should try .......... type/brand of eyepiece they are way better than anything and make an ordinary telescope excellent

Hold on ta ya horse there partner.. Dems ar fightin words..

I have the 13mm Ethos, as well as the 24 and 30mm UWA 5000 series.
I can tell you they all do a great job.
They are all crisp and sharp to the edge. If your comparing to the "Other" meade series, then i agree.

eeehaa.

Theo.

Yes, I should have been more specific, the other Meade series is what I was talking about. The point I was trying to make is that EPs do make a difference and you get what you pay for. I certainly noticed a big difference and that was in very good seeing.
My point was that with a limited budget, I am considering downsizing slightly and getting the better EP. Probably still won't , but will have to save for the really top notch EP.

Nothing wrong with the Meade 4000 series as a mid range eyepiece. Its a step up fromt he standard lenses supplied with scopes but not in the league of the really expensive ones. Its a matter of your budget and priorities.

Has anyone seen this review on the Meade 26mm QX Wide Angle Eyepiece?
Any comments from someone who uses this EP. It comes standard with the Mead Lightbridge Dob.
