I got up at 4:15 this morning for the conjunction, and there was not a cloud in the sky. So I jumped in the car and drove to the Walter Taylor Bridge over the Brisbane River to get some photos. When I arrived there at about 4:40 it was completely cloudy, but I sat around for 40 minutes in the hope that the cloud would clear, and just as the dawn light started to brighten the Moon and planets popped into view!
I haven't had a chance to make any adjustments to these images yet, they are straight out of the camera. It was a beautiful conjunction and these images don't really do it justice, but at least I captured something.
I've been thinking of testing out that venue for dawn conjunctions for several months now, so it was good to finally get my act together and do it. I was quite lucky with the clouds in the end!
You wouldn't know from these images, but this is actually in the middle of the inner suburbs of Brisbane! There is a small amount of bush alongside the River here that completely blocks out all the houses behing.
