Here's three images I snapped last night from home using the 10" Newt/DSI II. 50x1min for NGC3309 and NGC5746 and 60x1min for NGC4567. All could clearly do with more/longer subs but still quite a satisfying nights imaging after weeks of rubbish weather. I think my favorite is the NGC3309 image which is my first attempt at such a large group of small galaxies - still amazes me that there are so many out there. I also really like the triple star grouping just left of center.
Really like the first and third ones. Great composition and shows the variety of galaxies and their clusters out there. The second needs more data. Perhaps Sat nite?
Great effort as usual Peter
I had a quick look at NGC3309 visually last night after seeing your (sickeningly good) image -it's an impressive field! I don't normally much bother with galaxies even in the big 'un. I must try harder.
Thanks for the feedback David, Gerry, Marc, Allan, Jeanette and Jonathan. These galaxies were a bit more ambitious than my earlier targets and could clearly do with more/longer subs but like Marc I really like the interacting galaxies and the fields with multiple galaxies in them.
I've been resisting longer subs due to the limited time I have with my lousy horizon at home and because I've noticed some flexure issues with my 10" setup that's proving tricky to track down.
Having Astroplanner and EQMOD has been a huge breakthrough for my galaxy hunting Jonathan. I used to spent a lot of time hunting around but the pointing accuracy with EQMOD is just fantastic - object is always on the chip.
Saturday is looking good for me Allan (leave pass granted).
