My latest Mars

Hi,

Some of you may have seen my latest Mars image in Cloudynights forum. But I would like to invite you to take a look on it again.

This one is a re-processed one. Now, I think there are some improvement made to get rid of the too much green color in my original one. Some fellows asked me why it was a greenish Mars. That is because of wrong ToUcam settings in white balance. I was cheated by my notebook monitor!

Photographic data:
12.5" F5 Newtonian + Or-9mm eyepiece projection + IR-UV blocking filter + ToUcam
1000 frames stacked and processed with Registax + PS, finally ~80% resized & cropped
Seeing: 5-6/10 Transparency: 6-7/10
Date: September 19th, 05 at 17:49 UT

I know that one still have more for improvement on the color rendation. So, I would be more than happy to have your editting on it. Welcome to have your editting on this image to your preference.

Thank for both your looking and your try on re-processing.

Congratulations LT, that is an absolutely amazing photo. The image scale you are getting and the detail is stunning.

Just out of curiosity, do you find that using eyepiece projection works more effectively to achieve a high image scale than compared to using a Barlow or Powermate, or are you doing this simply to save $'s on Barlows/Powermate accessories?

Excellent William, that's a very nice reprocessed version. I simply love the image scale.

Thanks everyone.

John, the reason why I used eyepiece projection instead of a 5x powermate is that I want to have more magnification, not for saving $. Maybe I can stab two barlows to achieve the magnification. However, I am quite worry about the final image quality.

For Mars, if air is steady, it is possible for using higher f ratio, say F50 or more, at this moment. My Newtonian only has F5 value. So, I can't get F50 just by using a 5x powermate.
