Smile New here, so please be gentle with me

G'day everyone, hope all is well??
My name is Karl but I use the nick Dingo or D-fer and I am new to astronomy but have always been fascinated by it. Recently I had the chance to buy a new telescope it's an 8 inch Saxon Dob. I am so amazed at the detail it produces, I have already started bugging my wife to get a 12 inch. Dob. :-P. I also came into possession of my late grandfathers 1962 SLR Pentax SV camera with 3 lenses. I only mention this as I found out that I can connect the camera directly to the telescope. This pleasant surprise has led me to also start looking at astro-photography

I have a bucket load of questions, which I'll try and put in the right forums, instead of here.

Thank you for reading :-)
Dingo

Welcome Dingo ,
You'll find we're a a pretty friendly lot. Sounds like you have a great scope to start with but why stop at a 12" . Mate I recon a 16" is the go.
Cheers Zubenel

Hi Karl to IIS

I've an 8 inch Dob too. It's my first and only scope and I'm really enjoying the views with it. You always feel you want something bigger though don't you?

Cheers

Gary

Thanks for the welcome. :-)
Ever had this question " Where is the thread, where posters can cuss, swear and type really rude words in regards to cloud cover at night" :-P.

Hey Dingo,
I should have made myself a bit clearer.

I meant to refer specifically to the thread titled,

"Meeting IIS Members."

I'm planning a bit of a social thing.

Quite casual and at a date all the interested members can attend hopefully.

Happy Easter,

Marty
