I've just got back from our first successful 100hrs event. Last night was cancelled but tonight we had a great evening of viewing with over 40 people at a local school. The cloud gods mostly cleared the sky about 1 hour before sunset.
After the crowds looked through various scopes at the moon, Saturn, eta carina, omega cent etc we had a talk about supernova discoveries by the celebrated discoverer Bob Evans.
Apart from lots of dew on the scopes it was a wonderful night.
Hopefully we can repeat it for the next 2 nights.

100 hours of Astronomy, There's planned events around Brisbane tonight.

I hope they have a wet weather plan, There's storms on the way.

Just so depressing, and the sky looked like it was clearing.

Unlucky....

Had the 8" ready to go plus an ancient refractor for the kids in the cul-de-sac and only clouds visible. Even the laptop was charged for action.

Oh well, Gymea Bay will try again tomorrow evening.....and perhaps with less wine and other goodies! Nah...just some clear skies.

We have had solid rain for the whole thing. An hour or so of Sun Friday about 3pm is the only break in the clouds I've seen. A total bust!

Very clear skies up here, and the event has been an outstanding success. Last night was HUGE with about 400 people down at The Strand in Townsville .... each night has seen many of the public attending and being overwhelmed with what they see. All very rewarding.
We are sooooooo tired after these last 3 full on nights, that the forecast is partly cloudy with possible shower for tonight ... we are ..... hoping for rain!!
Sending clear skies down south... whoosh ... have a great last night!!

Good to hear Liz, well done, and also well done to everyone who was able to get some interest in our hobby. Whether your nights were a success or a clouded out mess at least we tried.

100 hours of cloud at Waterfall but as I type I can see this funny light blue color in the sky. It's been so long I feel like running outside and imaging it......

A clear night here. We had a good steady stream of people in my local town. over 200 people for the night. Quite a busy time but nice too.
It was a really enjoyable time. It should happen more often. It seems the general public really enjoyed it too by all the "wow's" I heard.

Cheers

gary
