Antila galaxy cluster

Hi All,

The Antila galaxy cluster in LRGB.

Taken with a Meade 8" RCX400 with AP 0.75 reducer.
Sbig ST-10XME, AO8
LRGB 120, 25, 25, 25 minutes mostly in 5 minute subs.

See how many galaxies you can spot?

Cheers
Stuart

Fascinating! This is the first image I have seen of a galaxy cluster taken with an amateur setup.

I counted 11 easy to identify. But I assume the fuzzy spots may also be galaxies?

I have a book with some pics of galaxy clusters taken with the Hubble. They used gravity fields to act as a lens for some shots. But yours looks similar.

Thanks

Hi Craig,

This might make it a bot easier to spot the fainter galaxies.

It's the luminance channel inverted.

Cheers and thanks.

I took mine too see what I could get out of a 3" scope and was surprised with the outcome

Great shot Stuart.

Just think, each one of those galaxies probably has hundreds of billions of stars each. Such arithmetic.

Greg.

nice shot. I counted 28 galaxies. There may be more very faint examples in there but indistinguisable from the equally very faint stars!
