Another galaxy from early last night - 27x2mins using the DSI II pro / ED80. I had a few challenges taking this one including banks of cloud rolling through early in the evening and Qantas flight 636 flying past my guide star.

This one looked good in the DSS image but turned out to be quite faint compared to most of the other candidates I've considered and would have been better with the 10" newt rather than the ED80.

Comments welcome

Starry Night says it Mag 10 but it must have quite a low surface brightness. I've not had much joy with galaxy imaging so I'll have to give it a shot (no pun intended). Nice image but I suspect it would show more with longer subs (and fewer aircraft).

Thanks Dan - Astroplanner says mag 11 but as you say it must have quite low surface brightness. I plan to try this one with the 10" as the 3" certainly makes it tough on the dim objects.

Thanks Frank. I'm really enjoying the monochrome galaxy imaging - something I can do in a couple of hours so a good fit for my rig which I have to set up/pack up each session.
