Did the earth move for you?

Earthquake in Melbourne - a few seconds shudder in the Northern suburbs!

Strange to see the concrete pillars outside my window move relative to the rest of the building

Felt it here too but not as big as the last one, coming a little too frequent for my liking.

I hope not. I remember when I was about 7 yrs old and still living in Chile we were woken up by an earthquake of Magnitude 8 and it was extremely scary, I wouldn't want to go through that again.

Its ALIENS. They are coming in under cover of darknes and are mining the clay and rock. They need the silicon. Its to restore their reserves. The aliens life system is silicon based.

They are causing the tremors to disguise the blasting.

Its unlikely that an 8 mag earthquake will strike in Aust. Aust lies over a plate. Chile is on the fiery edge of a plate and the Andes are still growing. ie unstable.

Allay your fears, cristian.

Cheers, Marty

Newcastle was a humble 5.6. I wouldn't want that under Melbourne.

My son was upstairs and began yelling out Dad, Dad, the house just shook, we were all down stairs and did not feel anything and told him he's dreaming then 20 min later there was the newsbreak about the quake.

I felt it here at home too - did not seem to me to be quite as strong or as long lived as the tremor a couple of weeks ago.

They did say back then there would be further aftershocks over the next few weeks or months.

I was out driving at the time so didn't feel a thing , but my mum and grandma reported it to be stronger than the previous quake.

Actually it's a base-10 logarithmic scale, so 5.6 is over six times stronger than 4.8

I was in a Japanese lecture and the lecturer jumped under the table.
i think she was playing a joke.

but we did learn the word for earthquake- not something that comes up in conversation that often (well, more often at the moment but...)

Are you sure she was saying earthquake ... could have been another word not often heard in polite Japanese
