i think so, i get the impression it was aimed at 'taxpayers' thats why it was put into brackets for earners.

The "taxpayer" payment is, essentially, for anyone who paid net income tax in 2007/08 and has a taxable income under $100,000. Under $70,000 and you get the full $900. It reduces in steps up to $100,000.

The payment will be made as per any previous tax return - into a bank account if you have provided it, else by cheque in the mail.

Here you go:-

http://www.ato.gov.au/corporate/cont....htm&page=1&H1

Other payments are to people receiving certain Centrelink payments.

As far as I can see, a couple, each earning less than $70,000 per annum, if they were receiving Family Tax Benefit part A and had, say, three children aged 4-18 would receive $900 each from tax office and $950 for each child from CentreLink. That's $4,650. Should pay a few bills. Good luck to them!

As Erick stated, there are two primary sources of payments
  • ATO will be providing a Tax Bonus of up to $900. See the full details here: http://www.ato.gov.au/corporate/cont....htm&page=1&H1. The ATO payment is separate and people are confusing it with the FAO payment. This particular one will be paid April. You can also call the ATO on 13 28 61.

You want it paid into your bank account rather then the cheque you have been receiving for your refunds?

You need to notify the Tax Office by 15th March:-
