Argo Navis
Hi All, I really want to get the Argo Navis for my SW collapsible dob.
However the pricing for all the parts comes comes to $1,496.51 !!!
I was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative?
Or should i just be patient and save for a few months..

Just think of it as investment and what you will get in return.
Your observing night will get way better as you will be able to see more objects in less time than searching through star maps.
Then when someone says to you show me this object then you can feel proud by saying ( YEP ).
Its a must if your really getting serious.
Cheers Kev.

Hi Ash,
Thanks for wishing to purchase an Argo Navis.
The good news is that the figure you quote is incorrect.
As at today 4 March 2009, an Argo Navis system for a Sky Watcher collapsible
Dob, including the unit, encoders, encoder mounting hardware and encoder
cable is only AUD977.15 which includes GST.
Delivery in the Sydney area is only AUD16.00.
Email sales@wildcard-innovations.com.au for further details or phone
us on 02 9457 9049 (09:00-17:00 AEST). I would be delighted to then be able to assist
you further.

Ash you will not regret buying an Argo Navis, they are the best accessory you can buy for your setup and well worth every penny !
Eventually I hope to put a set of encoders on my daughter's LB as well.

Out on the observing field Ash you will be able to run sky tours ( a real crowd pleaser) with the Argo-navis.
I feel a few sleepless nights are coming your way soon.
Cheers Kev.

"Price is what you pay, value is what you get"
The argo multiplies the amenity of the dob many times over imo

Argo Navis
I have to agree the Argo Navis is the best accessory I have purchased. I origanally got one for my Meade Lightbridge and then for my Televue Gibralta mount. For the Meade Lightbridge I also made up a Stalk to mount my Argo Navis handset from a paint roller extension pole handle and a paintbrush holder that screws onto the pole, cheap, easy and functional.
I have a few photos, but as I'm new to postings I haven't figure out how to add them, what's the procedure ?

i have read throught the blurb for this and it sounds great, am i right in saying that you have to move the scope itself, and it just zero's you in on objects? like digital setting circles?
might be a good purchase for my 12" skywatcher dob

You are correct, by itself, the argo navis is a "push to" system, however, the argo navis is 50% of a "go to" system if paired up with something like stellarcat, which you can also eventually "upgrade" to. So you can buy an argo navis with the knowledge you won't have to get rid of it if you decide to take the next step. I can't get the stellarcat web site up at the moment, not sure if the problem is their or mine.

thanks for that, i have read loads of reviews on it in the past hour, and it looks to be an excellent piece of kit.
I am guessing i might well get one (or at least order it!) in the next week or two

Hi and to IceInSpace!
When replying, click "Go Advanced" and then "Manage Attachments" to upload photos from your computer.
They have to be under 200kb jpeg's.
Cheers
