Galileon telescopes for IYA 2009

I saw a thread some time back about these telescopes being ready inApril to celebrate IYA 2009. I have emailed twicw but have had no reply and was wondering if anyone knows if some Australian business will be importing them to sell?????

Haven't heard of any yet. I ordered a couple for myself from the site. Sadly they won't be cheap. I'm looking at about A$55 each by the time they are in my hands. Maybe someone buying in bulk (>100 will attract a discount) can arrange for a bulk shipping rate. Still I am not sure they can be got down to the A$25 I think they would need to be to sell widely.

Thanks Eric, we want to order them for our Yr 8 students. Our thinking is one telescope per class and then rotate the scope every 1 or 2 night to a new student so they can sketch the moon as Galileo did. The canvas they will be sketching on will pass from student to student so then we can also compare classes. Good way to get families involved

I just bought one, $38 US in shipping via pay pal. Looks cool and may come in handy for a quick look around the sky when you don’t have much time.

I think the coolest thing though is being able to see exactly the scale that was able to see. That will be awesome and it will surely make me more appreciative of the gear I know have.

Thanks for the link.

Sandy
