From rainbows to storms ..........

I watched a huge lightning storm moving slowly southwards inland from my location during the afternoon and when it reached due east I decided to take some photos as it was getting dark. A little later ( pitch black ) I took some more. The light show was amazing ... so much energy locked up in those clouds ... lightning strikes every couple of seconds.

Apparently a freak Tornado struck the small township that I live by which is 12 kms away and tore several roofs off houses. I must check it out tomorrow.

These are all 30 second shots. The combo is of 1st and 2nd images. They knitted together quite well to give a more dramatic shot.

Anyway hope you like them.

nice results, could you still hear it going off or was it too far in the distance?

From memory it was the most prolonged thunder and lightning storm I have ever witnessed Mike ... it just kept going for hours and most of the lightning occured within the clouds ... not many ground strikes.

The dark skies certainly made the show more spectacular.

It gradually got fainter as it moved further south Dave but it took a long time to travel ... it was brilliant.

Great stuff Steve,
Love the first image especially, looks quite unique.

The flashes within the clouds in the other images look great, so much power, really nice set if images.

Regards
Trevor

Steve,

Those are just fantastic. The first one deserves to be printed and hung on a wall.
