Sound relief - man what a hard choice?

this is possibly the biggest thing since man landed on the moon, and showing my age. what a hard choice to make which venue do you go to????? must choose soon, and see about flights to melbourne?

THE MUSIC COMMUNITY UNITE FOR TWO VERY SPECIAL BENEFIT CONCERTS SATURDAY 14 MARCH 2009

The devastation of the current Victorian bushfires has left few unaffected. In response to our nation’s greatest ever natural disaster Australia’s music community have banded together for two stadium benefit concerts scheduled to run simultaneously in both Melbourne and Sydney on Saturday 14 March under the unified banner of SOUND RELIEF.

MELBOURNE
Augie March
Bliss N Eso with Paris Wells
Gabriella Cilmi
Hunters & Collectors
Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson with Troy Cassar-Daley
Jack Johnson
Jet
Kings Of Leon
Liam Finn
Midnight Oil
Paul Kelly
Split Enz
Wolfmother

Sydney:
Coldplay (Acoustic)
Eskimo Joe
Hoodoo Gurus
Icehouse
Jet
Josh Pyke
Little Birdy
The Presets
Wolfmother
You Am I
+ more acts to be announced

Both concerts will be held in their city’s most iconic venue; in Melbourne at the MCG and in Sydney at the SCG.

The concerts will be a celebration of multiple music genres, with artists playing short sets packed with hits. Concert goers are encouraged to attend the concerts from start to finish as major artists will be spread across the bill right from the very start of the day.

Coldplay and Kings Of Leon, who both have sold out concerts on March 14 in Sydney and Melbourne respectively, have kindly donated time from their busy schedules to perform 3-4 songs in the early afternoon.

Tickets will be sold for $75 and will go on sale from Ticketek on Wed 4 Mar, 9am. GA Standing on the field and Reserved Seating in the stands will be available for both concerts.

100% of the profits from the Melbourne concert will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

For the Sydney concert 50% of the profits will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal and 50% will be donated to The Premier's Disaster Relief Fund Appeal in QLD to aid the victims of the Queensland floods.

Particular thanks is extended to the Victorian Premier’s Department, Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria for their magnanimous decision to move the Sheffield Shield final out of the MCG, in turn freeing this iconic venue to be used for the Melbourne Sound Relief concert.

Get in quick for what is set to be a once in a lifetime concert event.

TOUR DATES:*
Saturday 14 March - SCG, Sydney
Saturday 14 March - MCG, Melbourne
*Ticketek is selling for the above venues only.

Tickets on sale Wed 4 Mar, 9am

The Oils, Split Enz and Hunters & Collectors.

Melbourne's the one for me, if only I had the spare cash.

If the organisers are smart they should make a combined DVD of the two events. I'd reckon they would sell like hotcakes and raise even more money. They have at least one confirmed sale with me.

Cheers

Hell yeah!
I am with H0ughy.
Hunters & Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, Split Enz, The Oils, Icehouse. Both our country's were brought up on the fine music. I only wish I wasn't 1000's of kms away. A DVD would be a best seller, surely!

The Oils live ..... it doesn't get better than that - well maybe if the venue was a small pub.

Hunners and the Enz - its gotta be Melbourne. Unfortunately work is going to get in my way otherwise I would be meeting you down there Houghy.

I am hoping they produce and sell a CD / DVD of the event - good way to raise more money for the various appeals.

In the words of Molly Meldrum an Australian Rock commentator "Do yourself a favour" and he means that in a nice way.

Nip down to the nearest music store an grab an album by Midnight Oil, anyone will do probably "Blue Sky Mining" is a good one to start with. I don't think you will be dissapointed.

You will also notice that the frontman Peter Garrett bears a strong resemblance to the current federal environment minister.

Cheers

All we need now, is Cold Chisel, AC/DC, The Divinyls, Missy Higgins .... Come on, where are they?

Though, it is really amazing the forums that I frequent, that many people mention on some bands "who are they". My god, they need to do research on the acts.
