I love the detail that goes into them, they must spend hundreds of hours creating and painting.

A labour of love for sure.

Great shots

However it is not as much fun as sitting behind the regulator of a 5"G live steam engine driving some of the great layouts in Australia.

Thanks for the link 'renorm' !
I love model trains but have never gotten into that hobby.

I remember seeing a fantastic setup once in a hobby shop for the train enthusiast who has everything, a model train set in a briefcase !!

Been there done that had a small N gauge with the NVT Train but need a lot of area to set up and like all hobbies can be expensive, but after a while found it was like watching tennis. Love the Adams family train set where Gomez used to blow up the trains.

My other hobby is N Scale US layouts such as these. These you tube videos are are good way to show off your layout.

I've always loved model trains, especially the N Scale layouts. Dad used to take me to the Model Train Exhibition in the old Sydney Town Hall, every year. I'm not really into complete realism in so far as the exact region and railroad a model should be based on, but I like running all sorts of trains....I'd probably run US layouts, though. Oz trains are still not as easy to come by, especially in the smaller scales. I've been thinking about setting one up lately....small one for starters, probably 6' x 3'. Maybe even a little smaller...5' x 2'. Then expand on it when I have more room to do so. I've got some software for track designing and such, so I'll probably come up with several layouts

Here's another really good model railway video... Pennsylvania RR

There is Z gauge, track width 6.5mm Marklin Trains cost nearly $400 a piece

Nice though this size can fit a decent layout on a metre by meter square

They are obviously not based on the Sydney rail system as they were all running on time and none were cancelled.

Speaking of Sydney trains, I was talking with my brother this afternoon about models and he said wouldn't it be good if you had one 200' x 80' in N Scale!!!!!. Can you imagine something that big!!!

Then it occurred to me wouldn't be good if you made a N Scale replica of the Sydney rail system (or as much of it as you could) on a layout of the size I mentioned. With all the buildings and such faithfully replicated. It'd take a few years to put together, but what a showcase for the rail system!!. It'd probably show them up though, as it'd most likely be on time and there'd be no cancellations of "services"!!! Not if the right people ran it, that is

That last wagon with graffiti on it is a hoot

I always went to the yearly exibit they used to do at the city hall in brisbane .. the whole auditorium just full of many differant layouts .. you sure remember those childhood memories .

Guy I work with is mad for his trains .. got a whole bedroom devoted to it.
