Another Comet Lulin at 1200mm

Two images of Lulin taken with QHY8 and Vixen VC200L at f6.4.
10 X 2min exposures and second image of 10 X 5 min exposures.

This was the only chance to image it due to bush fire smoke. There was still some smoke but I had to grab the only real chance I had.

Excellent. Were you actually guiding on the comet? I ask as the central condensation is nice and sharp for such high magnification.

I was guiding on the comet core. I was using a qhy5 and ED 80 as my guiding platform with PHD. I had to guide at 3 second exposures to get enough image in the core to allow for reasonable guiding.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Something diferent for me trying to image something moving so fast. I had no real idea wheather I would be able to get a reasonable image out of the subs taken although each sub looked quite good. Stacking was done manually after each shot was lightly stretched in CS3 to give me some detail in the core to stack on.

Doug,

Congrats on a couple of lovely images.

I think the second one might have been stretched a little bit too far, so, for me, the first one's a winner.

Regards,
Humayun
