trees and fire risk

when i was getting a final on our house 2 months ago the council inspector come approved all the house requirements went out the back yard seen how close the trees were to the house and said no remove them back to the 40 metre line as required for apz after removing these trees and seeing the difference you can see why and after victoria im so relieved at lest we stand a chance all 4 sides of property in bush horray for my council inspector seeing this prob and making me fix it

not here , cut down a tree and they can take you to court,

your building envelope is usually decided by the council if there are trees on the block, how many trees come down is minimal, and trees can be as close as 4m or less. Which council..... shire of yarra ranges ... yep where the bushfires are !!!!

there is a local who at the advice of the CFA cut down some scrub , council took him to court 50,000 dollars and then some more money later he lost and was convicted. Guess whos building survived when those near him didnt. he was on the radio today.

clive i love where i live trees all around us great privacy nobody wants all trees cut down but there must be a safty factor there are 4 more houses past me if any of these trees fell accross our road (private)how will they get out

yes youre right mozzie, we live here because we do like a country feel, trees are nice there just needs to be a balance for safety, here its weighted a little too far the other way. We have plenty of full grown gum trees on our block ( far enough from the house) and they are welcome to stay. i cant see any of those returning to burnt out areas allowing any more to grow though.

Oh, yes, I think that was the one I saw on tv - he removed about 250 trees from some large area around his house ?
The story that I saw was not very comprehensive, though - it was unclear why he ever wanted to live in a bush setting at all.

oh well - its not a bush setting anymore, and he's got no neighbours now for at least 2 ks

Give it 2 years or less and the burn out bush will be back as lush as ever

I like to keep a minimum of 40 metres clear around our house. We used to have some Wattle trees that were too close for my liking but the mechanical termite got to them and they dissapeared.

Then again the Wattles around here are like weeds, you mow them down on Sunday and by Monday they have resprouted and are 6 inches tall again.
