Specs on scopes.

Can anyone help me with what spec. I should go for?

I am wanting to get a spotting scope with a binoviewer on a tripod for watching wind/water sports (kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing). I've heard the viewing peice can be removed and an SLR attached to take photo's as well. Is Nikon the best brand for this and what spec should I be looking for?

Thanks
Heath

IMO a binoviewer on a spotting scope is a bit of a stretch, the fov is going to be limited & fast moving objects like water craft will be hard to follow - i suggest a good pair of bnoculars, with a fov of 6 deg -obviously waterproof will also be necessary.
Then buy a good telephoto lens for the slr.
The spotting scopes you refer to like Nikon's are every good products, but expensive for what they are - i think the binos and telephoto will work out cheaper.

What f/l were you looking at for the spot scope? & what kind of magnification/fov are you interested in?
