Trevor Barry makes the press again!

Trevor Barry (aka Quark) is the subject of this latest article by journalist
Christopher Butler which appeared in a recent edition of Senior News
of which a copy was recently forwarded to me.

The article is copyright Australian Seniors Publications 2009 and reproduced here
under the doctrine of fair use.

A really nice story!

Trevor informs me that ABC's Australian Story may also well be featuring him
in a future program! Some interviewing and filming has been done but no
release date as yet.

Trevor, I think that soon you will need to hire a full time Press Secretary!
Well done!!!

Best Regards

Gary

Congratulations Trevor, well deserved! You are an absolute inspiration to everyone, young and old, and at my "young" age of 44 I may well be taking a note from your book and taking on an entirely new field of study and a resultant whole new career. Good on you for showing us that it can be done with determination and hard work at any age!

Well done Trevor, always great to see members in the news.

I'll be looking forward to the "Australian Story" episode as well.

Cheers

Thanks to all that have expressed their support.
If the ABC give the green light for the Australian Story feature, I had IIS stickers all over my case and camera bag when they filmed and interviewed me at Sydney International airport before I left.

The IIS stickers made it a lot easier identifying my case on the carousel at Honolulu and Kona. Also, when Duncan Forbes interviewed me at the summit of Mauna Kea with the twin Keck's as a backdrop, I was wearing my IIS beanie.

I apologize for the inordinate amount of media attention I am receiving, I am just another amateur astronomer.
Occasionally the print media, out of courtesy provide a draft. Some of the things they write embarrass the hell out of me. Some articles are more accurate than others, any of you that have had experiences such as this would be aware of how journalists work.

There will also be another article in The Australian in March as part of a Swinburne supplement, it just keeps going on.
I don't contact these people, they keep contacting me.

In this year of astronomy, I suppose any media coverage of what amateurs are doing must be a positive thing.

Regards
Trevor
