Crux - First bash at widefield

Viewed and shot and a few clusters through the newt last night, and finished up trying some widefield shots for first time - just the 450D on the mount. MEMO - don't leave both counterweights on when trying to slew camera....

Seemed fitting to be shooting crux on Australia Day somehow. Pretty pleased to be able to see the jewel box, split gamma crucis (not too clear in this resize), and get a hint of the coalsack for a single uncalibrated & unguided frame (stretched a bit and colours tweaked to reduce light pollution).

1 x 201 secs, ICNR, no flat frame
Canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 (@F5)

Looks cool like it's shot from the outback, especially with the bits of landscape thrown in at rhe bottom.
