Just to say thanks

Just wanted to drop a quick line to say thanks to any and all who took the time to offer replies to my queries regarding selecting a scope.

After much internal debate even up to the last minute I was still unsure but went with the C8 deluxe.
I like the idea of being able to have the mount track my subjects and don't think I could have put up with the manual manipulation required for a dob through the leaning process.

That said seeing conditions and light pollution in my backyard are woeful (next door to a motel and a sensor flood light) so this scope fits the bill for portability, reasonable aperture to wet my appetite whilst keeping me interested and also came with a some mounting gear for my dslr as part of the deal.

Collimation seems a piece of P&*s and overall control is straight forward.
I do see myself picking up a large dob down the road purely for backyard purposes...maybe when the AUD picks it act up and things become more reasonably priced or if something turns up 2nd hand.

Now just to find some nice dark skies in the Newy area and to drag myself along to this viewing night this weekend.
Oh and try and get a good alignment. Helps to track objects if you align in the right direction .

In regards to coming along to my first club night should I take my scope along and ask for pointers or just come along with some binos and some nibblies ?

Consider it done Chris. I'll have a chat to the man up stairs and put in a word or 2.

Looking forward to it.
